Position Summary
The SIL Assistant is primarily responsible for supporting two individuals with developmental disabilities (our ‘Core Members’) with daily activities in a supported independent living household and in our Day Program. The SIL Assistant works in collaboration with other team members to ensure and nurture the well-being, growth and development of Core Members. This applies to various aspects of daily life in accordance with the principles, values and philosophy of L’Arche. This is a permanent, guaranteed hour role which includes Group Insurance Benefits and opportunities for continued growth.


Ideal candidates will possess the following:
• excellent organizational skills and effective communication skills
• the ability to work independently and in a team setting
• creative problem solving and decision-making skills
• a positive attitude and willingness to learn


Qualifications include:
• 1-2 years of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly supporting
individuals with complex behavioural needs/dual diagnosis is an asset
• valid G class driver’s license in good standing and access to a reliable vehicle
• ability to maintain a schedule which includes daytime, evening and weekend support times
• criminal background check including vulnerable sector screening
• current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) and/or First Aid/CPR certification an asset
• post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
