Volunteer Opportunities

L’Arche Stratford Volunteers are needed in a variety of situations. Most volunteers choose to develop stable long-term friendships with an individual member or with one of the homes or programs. Others may help in the office or with fundraising projects. Some volunteers help maintain the garden of a house, or catch up on the sewing, or do seasonal cleaning or odd jobs in the homes. A volunteer might cook dinner with a core member once every two weeks.

Currently seeking Board Members

The Board of Directors for L’Arche Stratford oversees  operations and makes recommendations with respect to various aspects of the organization.    The Board ensures adherence with the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services guidelines and L’Arche Ontario and L’Arche Stratford policies and procedures. 

Board members are encouraged to attend L’Arche Stratford community events and develop relationships with community core members.

Candidates will possess the following:
• effective communication skills
• creative problem solving and decision making skills
• the ability to be a team builder

Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
• experience supporting people with developmental disabilities
• strong leadership and group dynamic skills
• demonstrated commitment to values of citizenship
• a police check (vulnerable sector)

• there is a strong need for members with a financial or fundraising background.

Time Commitment
• Board meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of each month,  

  September to June
• Committee meetings are held at the convenience of the members
• Community events are held monthly
